Once again, it is a great pleasure to provide all lovers of basketball with a new publication devoted to preserving the history of our sport and continues our aim to compile the most complete information on the most important, international basketball competitions.
The work presented here is complete, up-todate and in a single volume, THE HISTORY OF THE BASKETBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.
In 1998, the Foundation published a first book that covered the history of the championship from 1950 to 1994; a further appendix on the championship was published in 2004 covering the championships held in Greece 1998 and Indianapolis 2002.
With the idea of keeping the publications we have issued over the years up-to-date we present this new edition that covers the history of the World Championships from 1950 to the latest held in Japan in 2006. It is offered in both Spanish and English and the photographs that accompany the edition have not only increased in quantity but have been enhanced in quality.
Throughout the years we have published Books on different subjects; above all the most outstanding are those on the history of basketball and FIBA competitions. Basketball in the Olympic Games, the World Championships, the European Championships, the World Junior Championships, the McDonald ' s Open and the European Club Cup form part of a unique collection in the world of basketball.
The publication of Books is only part of the Foundation ' s work. You are invited to visit our headquarters in Alcobendas which, since 2007, also houses the FIBA Hall of Fame, and is a unique place to enjoy basketball and basketball culture.
