The following information will be helpful to you and your parents / guardians in learning how to successfully transition to high school and how to successfully make course selections for the 2026-2027 school year. Please read this handbook carefully.
Making the Transition from Middle School to High School
An important part of your freshman year is learning the culture, traditions, and expectations of Wheeler High School. High school is very different from middle school. You will have greater freedom in high school as well as greater responsibility such as getting to sit wherever you want at lunch and being able to talk to your friends as you move from class to class. The most important responsibility as a high school student though is successfully completing courses to earn credits!
Follow these simple steps to be successful in high school: 1. Complete all assignments( homework, projects, etc.) when they are due. 2. Actively participate in class. 3. Ask questions if something is unclear. 4. Advocate for yourself to receive extra help from your teacher if you begin to fall behind! 5. Take responsibility for YOUR learning.
