HOW TO PREPARE- GETTING STARTED
Why Parliamentarian: I first ran for TSJCL parliamentarian because of several reasons. I wanted to learn the cryptic language that was“ Robert’ s Rules of Order”. Also, as a more procedural and rulesbased person, I wanted to run the events like elections and constitutional amendments. I then ended up liking it so much, that I decided to then run for the NJCL position! Coming up with ideas: My ideas stemmed from challenges I had faced while a state parli. For one, I wanted to study local, state, and past national constitutions because, in Texas, we had very little knowledge as a Board of systems outside the TSJCL and NJCL. Additionally, I wanted to introduce others to parliamentary procedure in a fun way, because I know reading straight through the several-hundred-page Robert’ s is not for everybody.
