General Advice
Before getting into specific media , here are a few tips that apply to everything you make for your campaign :
Give yourself plenty of time to make materials .
I ' d recommend starting as early as possible . You don ' t want to be scrambling to put together your website the day before convention . I had not taken this advice and regretted it .
Pick a key color or two for your campaign .
While not necessary , a consistent color theme will make your materials more cohesive and , more importantly , help them stand out as yours . For example , I used purple on my website , flyers , and Meet the Candidates board because it ’ s my favorite color . I even took it a little further in that I also tried to wear purple a lot so people associated me with it .
If you have a catchy slogan or acronym , use it !
A fun phrase on your flyers and posters will make your platform all the more memorable . If you have yet to come up with that catchy slogan , think about words that rhyme with your name , all start with the same letter , etc .
Have fun ! While putting together a campaign takes a lot of effort , you should make sure you ' re enjoying every step of the way .
NO ADHESIVES ( seriously ) Adhesives ( e . g . stickers ) are prohibited from campaigning . You can still use tape to stick something on a poster you ' ll be carrying around , but you shouldn ' t have anything that ' ll be stuck on clothes , random walls , etc . See the Campaigning Rules for more information .
