Safety CAMP DESCRIPTIONS Camp Hilbert Camp Ganim Camp Hilbert has been the home of happy campers for the past 73 years. Nestled in the heart of Goochland County, our beauti- ful 110-acre site is the ideal day camp setting for exploring the outdoors, building and developing skills, and forging lifelong friendships. Campers in grades K-10 enjoy a wide range of activities from boating on serene Lake Rosalie, to team building on our low-ropes course, and playing a Camp Hilbert favorite: Ga-Ga. Camp Hilbert of- fers the classic camp experience complete with late-nights/over-nights, theme days, and Color War (Maccabiah). Join us for the best summer ever, and memories that will last a lifetime! Camp Ganim offers educational and safe opportunities for children ages 2-5 to interact with nature. They run, climb, dig, collect, pretend, take risks and create, while exploring sand, mud, flowers, insects and the great outdoors! Add swimming, art, water play, music, gardening, and caring counselors, and what a perfect summer your child will have! Specialty Camps Specialty Camps is a 12-week program of pure fun and excitement. Does your child ever dream of riding a horse, creating LEGO ® masterpieces, or becoming a master chef? Specialty Camps has all of those interests and more! Our camps provide professional and focused instruction which result in fun with learning mixed in. Our goal is to provide an interactive and safe environment that ensures every camper’s physical, mental, and social developmental needs are met. Teen OPPORTUNITIES Our teen camps are excellent volunteer opportunities designed to help participants in grades 7-12 meet their school’s community service requirements, while still having an exciting, fun and meaningful summer experience. These “peer camper” opportunities at Camp Hilbert, Voices Together, and Camp Ganim all involve assisting the counselors and learning valuable skills through working with young campers and/or those with disabilities. 4 Instructional Swim With our state-of-the-art Aquatics Center at Camp Hilbert and the Weinstein JCC recreational pool used for Camp Ganim, our Instructional Swim Program features everything to ensure our campers gain swimming competence to last a lifetime. Our staff evaluates each swimmer and places him or her with campers of the same swim level. As the summer progresses, the campers attain new skills and move up to the next level to gain confidence in all areas of swimming. Voices Together Voices Together is a safe and structured day camp for children on the Autism Spectrum. Campers participate in both indoor and outdoor activities that keep them engaged and entertained, including art, music therapy, swimming, science and classroom and gym games. The professional staff and teen volunteers make this an experience your child will not forget! Kids’ Place Camp Kids’ Place Camp is an exciting end-of- summer experience with three weeks of age-appropriate and fun-filled programs and activities. Kids will enjoy field trips, sports, craft projects and having a blast together… because the summer might be winding down, but the fun never stops in Kids’ Place! General Information Even though our summer is filled with fun, safety is our number one priority at Weinstein JCC Summer Camps. Our safety measures include security guards on premises (both at the JCC and Camp Hilbert), Red Cross trained lifeguards and swim instructors, CPR/First Aid certified staff, an EMT on staff at Camp Hilbert, and background checks for all staff. Lunch & Snacks Your child should pack a dairy (meat and shellfish free) lunch, as well as a water bottle. Camp Hilbert and Specialty campers are provided one dairy, kosher afternoon snack. Specialty campers should also pack a morning snack. Snacks and lunches at Camp Hilbert are refrigerated prior to eating. Ganim camper lunches are not refrigerated and should be sent in an insulated pack with an ice block. Although meals are not required to be nut-free, children with nut aller- gies will be seated in nut-free areas. Camp Ganim will notify parents if their child is in a nut-free room, in which case the child's lunch must adhere to the nut-free policy.
