AWARENESS OF OTHERS Counselor in Training Program( CIT)
CIT Director: LaVenus Harried Teens entering grades 9 and 10
Our Counselor in Training( CIT) program is designed for those entering 9th and 10th grade who want first-hand leadership and staffing experience, while still enjoying time for social interaction. Our CITs participate in team-building, leadership training, and experience a summer they will never forget. CITs must commit to at least four weeks with us, but we encourage them to spend all eight weeks at Camp Hilbert to get the full experience. Each week will focus on a new set of skills and development topics. Our program is cumulative, so the lessons are progressive from 9th grade to 10th grade.
CIT Program Includes:
• Orientation and training prior to camp
• First Aid / CPR certifications
• Red Cross Babysitter certifications
• Community service projects
• Leadership skill development workshops
• Team-building activities
• Practical experience working with children
• Field trips every other week that include Busch Gardens, Kings Dominion, and others
• Overnights( once per 4-week session)
• Health, wellness, and nutrition training
• Interview skill training and a mock interview with Director( for 10th graders)
