GENERAL INFORMATION

How to Dress and What to Bring
Your child will have a better camp experience if they are dressed appropriately for camp activities! Label all clothing, bags, backpacks, sunscreen and water bottles prior to camp. Camp-specific apparel or items will be communicated by the specific camp director / supervisor.
• Comfortable, cool play clothes( do not send your child to camp in valuable clothing-grass stains and paint spills are not always avoidable during action-packed days)
• Gym shoes( open-toed shoes are not allowed)
Have your camper leave any valuable items such as video games, smart watches, action figures, cell phones, etc. at home. The park district is not responsible for any lost items.
T-shirts – Campers will receive 1 t-shirt for the camp season. Your child must wear his / her camp shirt on all field trip days. T-shirts will be distributed during the first week of the camp session. If lost, there is a $ 10 replacement fee. Replacement is subject to availability.
Information Requests
Information regarding campers enrolled in park district camps is confidential. For your family’ s safety, staff is not allowed to release phone numbers and addresses of other campers.
Camps at Pleasant Ridge Elementary School, Attea Middle School, and Hoffman Elementary School
The Glenview Park District has a rich history of fostering robust partnerships within the Glenview community. By collaborating with local agencies, we enhance the quality of life in Glenview and ensure that residents derive the maximum value from their tax dollars. In our joint endeavors, the Glenview Park District will facilitate camps at District 34 schools.
Change in Camp Locations
Though we do our best to secure camp locations in advance, occasionally we must relocate a camp due to last minute needs or insufficient enrollment numbers necessitating consolidation of sections. If this should occur, you will always be given the choice of a full refund.
Safety & ADA Assistance
The park district wants to assure all campers have a safe and fun experience. Although the park district does not require children to have a medical examination to attend camp, your pre-camp emergency forms inform us of any special medical needs, including allergies and emergency details. As added protection for our campers, all of our camps are nut safe. If your child needs accommodations in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act, please contact us as soon as possible to ensure a successful experience for your child. If you would like more information on inclusion, please contact Natalie Liang, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation at 224-521- 2552. Individuals with T. D. D.’ s can call 1-800- 526-0844, and the Illinois Relay Center will transmit the message to the park district.
Emergency Closings & Cancellations
The Glenview Park District is committed to keeping its facilities and programs operating whenever possible. However, there are times when weather, road conditions, or facility malfunctions may require the cancellation or temporary postponement of programs and services, or even the closure of entire facilities. In such cases, the Glenview Park District reserves the right to close a specific facility, cancel a program, or modify activities based on specific criteria, which can be found in the Park District Policies section of our website, glenviewparks. org.
Camp sessions will continue regardless of weather conditions, allowing for an enjoyable experience rain or shine. Our staff is well-prepared with a variety of activities suitable for both rainy days and hot weather. While our fieldhouses are not air-conditioned, recent updates have improved insulation, helping to keep them cooler during the summer. In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances that prevent pool usage, alternative activities such as field trips or special events will be arranged. Please note that refunds will not be issued in these instances.
The Glenview Park District will make every effort to communicate any closings or cancellations through the Park District Rainout Hotline Service, our website at glenviewparks. org, and the Metropolitan Chicago Emergency Closing Center.
