Host our Summer Shlichim!
Every summer, the Weinstein JCC partners with the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond( JCFR) and the Jewish Agency’ s Summer Shlichim Program to bring shlichim( emissaries from Israel) to work as staff members at our camps. The summer Shlichim program is a cultural bridge that allows dynamic young Israelis to bring the“ spirit of Israel” to Jewish youth during a summer camp experience.
The Shlichim go through a rigorous interview process along with a 4-day training seminar to prepare them for life in the United States. They are mature, English-speaking Israelis who have completed army or national service. They are experienced in various areas of education and work as counselors, teachers or childcare workers.
Key Information:
• Host families are needed to host both Shaliach for a consecutive 2-week period.
• Each shaliach needs to be provided a private room with an individual bed.
• Host families are responsible for arranging transportation to and from the WJCC Monday- Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
• Host families must provide 3 meals a day( Monday thru Friday)
• Host families enrolled in Camp Hilbert will receive a discount on camp fees for the weeks they host. This offer cannot be combined with financial assistance.
• Host families not enrolled in Camp Hilbert will receive a Kroger gift card for the weeks they host.
