The Sacrifice
of Praise That
Professes
His Name
Have you heard news so amazing that
you dropped everything to tell others
about it? When Jesus told the woman
at the well he was indeed the Messiah
she left her water jar and rushed back to
town to tell the people the news she had
just heard. Amazing news. The Messiah
had come! And he was talking to her!
A woman with a shame filled past was
seen and loved by God. She must have
been so changed, the people listened
and responded. The account says that
many believed in Jesus because of the
woman’s testimony. Her actions were a
natural response to the joy that filled her
heart (John 4).
Do I drop everything to tell others about
Jesus? I find that the more I delight in
my salvation the more I am quick to
tell others about my Savior. But as life
marches on and my days are full, it is
more of a sacrifice to drop my plans for
the sake of others.
That may be why we have to be told
in the Bible to be intentional. “Through
Jesus let us continually offer to God a
sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that
openly profess his name. And do not for-
