Deacon Candidates The selection of elders and deacons will take place by casting of lots at the Annual Meeting on September 17. Dan DeVries- Dan DeVries and his wife Carole have attended Calvary for sev- en years. They have been married for 25 years and have four children: Jes- sica, Ian, Nathan and Seth. Dan serves on the parking lot team and has partic- ipated in mission trips to Central Asia and Honduras. He has recently partic- ipated in the Leadership Development Forum. About a year ago, Dan and Car- ole began leading a community group in the Byron Center area. Having been challenged and encouraged in his faith here at Calvary, Dan desires to serve God where He calls. Jason Jones - Jason and his wife, Holly have been married for 23 years and have attended Calvary for seven years. They have two daughters, Kaitlyn (18) and Natalie (15). Jason currently serves on the personnel committee, as an usher, and as part of the communion preparation team. In previous years he served as a small group leader for both adult and middle school ministries, as a lead monitor and part of a tear down crew while at Calvin, as well as assisting in the Connection Point. Jason is very thankful and blessed by all the Godly friends he and his family have made since joining Calvary. Wilhelm Kliewer - Wilhelm has been married to Maria for 23 years. They have four children: Joshua (21), Amy (18), Betty (18) and Jonathan (15). They have been attending Calva- ry Church since 1998, becoming members in 2007. Being able to use and share God’s gifts with others is a privilege and a responsibility. He considers it a delight and pleasure to serve with others in various areas as well one term as deacon. 14 Matt Kromke - Matt and his wife Heidi have been married for 12 years. They have three children Rachel 10, Hannah 7, and Eliza 5. Heidi and Matt have been members at Calvary for 12 years. During his time at Calvary he has served in the children’s and spe- cial needs ministries, participated in a mission trip to Mozambique, partici- pated in the Leadership Development Forum, and hosted a weekly bible study. Matt has had the privilege to serve on the operations committee for many years, led the wonderful outdoor greeter teams at Calvin and now has the honor to lead and serve alongside the faithful outdoor greet- ers at Calvary. Mike Metcalf - Mike and Nicki have been happily married for 18 years and have been attending Calvary for over ten years. They are blessed with two children: Paige (16) and Nate (15). Since attending and becoming a member at Calvary Church, Mike has served in a small group, Leadership Development, co-leads an evangelis- tic Bible Study, and during Calvary@ Calvin he served as a group leader for the guides. He is active at Calvary serving in the Welcome Center and prayer group with 2Fish Ministries, also active with BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) and Multitude Ministries serving as a board member. Mike was baptized with his wife Nicki, son Nate and his in-laws Mike and Mary Sebastian on Easter of 2014 Mark Nickerson - Mark and Sally have been married for 47 years and have been members at Calvary since 2001. Their four children (Jody, Joel, Seth and Ethan) are married, serving God in area churches, and have blessed Mark and Sally with 16 grandchildren. Mark & Sally have served in the Con- nection Point and currently assist in the Welcome Center. Mark has served in Men of 6:10 and his passion is facilitating a men’s bible study group (Authentic Manhood) for the past five years, currently meeting on Monday nights, September through May. Rob Umstead - Rob and his wife Linda have been married for 38 years. They have been members of Calvary since their marriage in 1979. Rob & Linda have four grown children, and three grandchildren. When their chil- dren were young, Rob served as an AWANA leader. Currently he and Linda serve together in the Prayer Room. Rob has served five terms as deacon since Calvary Church moved into our present building in 1986 serving on numerous board committees. Rob is serving as a Director of the Synergy Resource Group in the missions min- istry. He has also served on the Board Nominating Committee. Chris Walkup - Chris has been at Cal- vary for 20+ years serving in various ministries as a teacher, leader and worker. His family consists of his wife, Michele of 25 years, and three kids, Michael (20), Justin (16) and Megan (13). He is honored and humbled to be considered for this role.
