The Baby Does
This is such an amazing time of year. I know it is busy and can
be stressfull, but stop - take a breath - and realize why this is a
special time.
When my wife and I had our first child Zachary, we spent the
last few weeks trying to get everything ready. With the help of
a dear friend, who also happened to be a general contractor,
we added on a room on our small starter home.
The new room was going to be the nursery and the last thing
I had to do to be ready for the new baby was lay down some
Pergo, wood laminate, in the small hallway. Zachy decided to
come early. I remember sitting at the hospital as the nurse said
the baby was coming now.
I remember looking at the nurse in a fog of panic, stress, joy,
anxiety and blurting out, “The baby can’t come I haven’t laid
the Pergo yet.” The nurse looked at the panic-stricken firsttime father and gently said, “The baby doesn’t need
Pergo.”
