Running for State
By Alice
The California State Officer Team is composed of six different individuals who are passionate
about the same thing: TSA. California State President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, and
Sergeant-at-Arms all bring something special to the table but work together as a team to represent and
deliver the most memorable experience to the CA TSA members. Being a State Officer is a strenuous yet
rewarding experience. The responsibility requires commitment and sacrifices but offers valuable lessons
that will last beyond time in TSA. At the 2014 State Conference on March 1st, CA TSA will elect next
school year’s State Officer Team.
As the current State President, I can say this experience is quite life-changing. My time in office
has given me more joy and frustrations than I would have ever imagined. However, I do not regret one
second of it. I know this journey is what I will miss the most from my high school career, from editing
kickoff video early in the morning to exploring weird ice cream flavors with the State Officer Team. Never
did I imagine that serving CA TSA with five people whom I respect would be so gratifying. All the hard
work pay off when I see faces light up at the mention of State Conference or when I hear that a new
chapter has joined. This experience has given me the courage to dream big and taught me that all things
are possible with passion and commitment.
Though the prospect of presenting yourself in front of the State Delegation may be daunting, I
encourage each and every one of you to challenge yourself and run for State Office. You will lose
yourself in this crazy ride and emerge as a better leader and person. This is your opportunity to expand
your vision for TSA and bring those ideas to reality. If you are ready to embark on this rewarding
journey, email [email protected] to request a candidate packet and learn more about the
application process. Do not delay! Though candidate packets are due on Monday, February 10th, a great
packet takes time to put together.
