Overview By Christina New Year means a new state conference!! The second annual California Technology Student State Conference is sneaking up quickly (March 1, 2014) so lets take a quick overview of what will be going on. Other than spending time preparing and competing events, delegates will have the opportunity to put their projects on view and also look at the projects their peers have completed as well (hopefully not completed the night before). Students can observe all the amazing ideas thought up by our proud TSA attendees as well as mingle with other students from across the state. State Conference is also a time for voting in the new State Chapter Team! There will be time for all candidates to make their “elevator pitch” to all the state attendees to grab your vote. Listen to what each candidate has to offer and make your decision! For our devoted advisors and teachers, we have not forgotten about you. We will be having a seminar for teachers on ways to prepare for Nationals, from budgets to flight schedules to transportation, we will cover it all and answer your questions. For students interested in attending nationals, we will have a separate seminar where you can hear from the students who were lucky enough to be the first Californians to attend a TSA National Conference. Take this opportunity to ask questions about their experiences, what they liked the most, how not to procrastinate etc. More information will be sent out as we near D-day so be sure to read our next newsletter and check our Facebook page for updates and more details on our 2nd State Conference! Hotels and Attractions State Conference this year will be held at the wonderful home of the Brahmas, Diamond Bar High School. What are Brahmas exactly? Well, if you google Brahmas on google, you get a wikipedia page on a breed of chickens but if you google Brahma, surely enough you should come across a picture of a cow. Yes, we are cows but we like to consider ourselves as strong Bulls, after all, we must keep up with the fierceness given that Snoop Lion’s son attends our school (Snoop puppy? Snoop Simba?) Nonetheless, I digress. While it is not necessary to know all of the animals associated with our venue, it will be helpful to know what restaurants, hotels, and attractions you can enjoy here in Diamond Bar during Conference. Holiday Inn , Ayres Suites and Quality Inn Suites are all hotels that are affordable, comfortable, and perhaps most importantly, within a 2 mile radius of DBHS and of delicious food.
