SOLEDAD FFA
Mini Greenhand Leadership Camp
Submitted by Anissa Lopez-Chavez
On September 16th and 17th , Soledad FFA hosted its fi rst mini greenhand leadership camp . The event kicked off with a quick ice breaker and beginning session of workshops , each focusing on different leadership and FFA skills . As the day progressed and dinner was fi nished , the offi cers started a bonfi re and the members sang songs . When night turned pitch dark , everyone headed into their rooms to either watch a movie or sit around and tell scary stories until everyone fell asleep . As morning arrived , the students packed up , collected breakfast , and ran to the second session of workshops . After that , the Greenhands joined together for a round of dodgeball and to eat their lunches . Directly after , the students left , but we could hear them talking about how much fun they had . We hope to continue this tradition as it was a great experience for all .
NEWMAN FFA
Spreading Holiday Cheer
Submitted by Maria Martinez
The Newman FFA Chapter takes pride in our involvement within the community . For our monthly meeting we decided to create decorations to be hung up at the local convalescent home to brighten up the facility . Students created crafts , such as plate turkeys and leaf chain banners with encouraging words written on the leaves . The day after the meeting we took our offi cers , as well as members from the community service and fundraising committees , to hang up the decorations and interact with the residents of the convalescent home . This was a great experience for the chapter and we hope to fi nd additional new ways to interact with our supportive city !
FIREBAUGH FFA
The Jump of a Lifetime
On November 10th , Firebaugh FFA took 68 students to their fi rst ever Skywalk activity . Firebaugh FFA reserved Skywalk for the whole night : six hours of jump time ! If students didn ’ t want to jump , there were movies playing in the lobby , as well as several areas to sleep . Throughout the night , many stopped jumping and went to rest or eat snacks . At 1:00 am the Skywalk staff had a grand idea to perform the popular mannequin challenge , which you can see on Skywalk ’ s sports Instagram . As the night went on members held a dodgeball tournament , where many participated and one team remained undefeated for fi ve games , receiving fi ve one-hour jump time vouchers for Skywalk ( one voucher for each player ). It was such a great and fun experience bonding with the FFA members , that many students want it to be a yearly activity . Thus ending another fabulous event hosted by Firebaugh FFA . •
