MADERA FFA
Memorial Day Celebration
GUSTINE FFA
Submitted by Kimberly Copland
Honoring Veterans
Memorial Day is more than just a day off of school for the Madera
FFA chapter. They see it as a day to give back to those who gave
their all for our country. Working with the Veterans of Foreign
Wars, the members helped set up Memorial Park in Madera. The
members helped set up over 75 U.S. fl ags throughout the park and
at the memorial statues. The veterans took the time to tell members
about their experiences and the importance of the Memorial Day
celebration. Members helped the veterans throughout the day and
helped pack up and store the fl ags.

“Living to Serve,” as stated in the FFA Motto is important to the Gustine FFA Chapter.
FFA members were given the opportunity to serve our community’s veterans and the
sacrifi ces that they made for our freedom. On Friday, May 25th, eleven Gustine
FFA members were proud to honor the men and women who served in our military
by placing crosses and fl ags at the Hills Ferry Cemetery. Megan Azevedo who
attended the event said, “It was nice to be able to honor the veterans who served
for our country.” The students enjoyed giving back.
SANGER FFA
Recognizing Historical FFA Alumni
Submitted by Haidyn Washburn
The Sanger FFA Chapter is looking forward to a terrifi c year, kicking off with the recognition
of former chapter members who were actively involved in FFA, and continue to be involved in
agriculture in their daily lives. Sanger is starting a new project in which we interview Sanger High
School alumni about how they incorporate ag into their careers and employ the ideals that were
instilled in them through FFA. Sanger High is on a journey to teach our new FFA members about
what we’ve done in the past. It will be extremely rewarding for our current members to learn
about our history and delve into activities offered to past members. This can encourage their
involvement in agriculture in the future. •
