If you follow Sportsmen ’ s Alliance online , you might have seen our story about animal-rights advocates allowed to present at a national conference of wildlife scientists and policymakers last November . We wrote the story as a warning to the industry that the fox was just let in the hen ’ s house . It rightfully caused an uproar in many corners of the industry .

That conference was the annual meeting of The Wildlife Society ( TWS ). Founded in 1937 with a mission “ to inspire , empower , and enable wildlife professionals to sustain wildlife populations and habitats through science-based management and conservation ,” TWS is an amalgamation of biologists , policymakers and others from federal and state agencies , universities , tribes and other entities interested in wildlife biology and management . The conference highlights the important work of the people in these agencies and disseminates the findings of their research to partners and fellow researchers . As I said online : good people doing good things .
But as I also said online : a bastion of scientific research is no place for philosophical preaching meant to undermine that science and destroy the wildlife management model it supports .
The pulpit provided the antithetical ministers was a panel discussion entitled and described as “ Transforming State Wildlife Management to Be More Ecologically Focused , Democratic , and Compassionate : This session will explore the proposition
