After issuing a temporary order that reigned in the new mandates , District Court Judge Christopher Abbott ruled against the activists and reinstated the year ’ s management plan . Suing to stop hunting methods and means is a popular tactic used by extremists to delay and derail management plans .
TEXAS If Montana and Texas can be targeted by animal extremists , no state in the Union is safe . Texans for Mountain Lions petitioned the parks and wildlife department to end mountain lion hunting and trapping . The petition was denied , but the group will undoubtedly return . Texans for Mountain Lions is a front group for , or at least related to , Project Coyote . They share board members , messaging and more . Project Coyote is active on the national scene and part of predator management issues nationwide to end , or regulate out of existence , all predator hunting — coyote , bear , wolf , fox and lion . This is how a group from California impacts and infiltrates a stalwart state like Texas . They ’ ll be back with another regulation request and likely , at some point , a lawsuit attempting to force the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to conduct a study on the mountain lion population and , of course , that request will halt all hunting and trapping of lions until the study is complete .
