MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF ARTS & LETTERS DEPARTMENT OF ART, ART HISTORY AND DESIGN STUDIO ART CLAIM A Better Future Two versions of the studio art major are available, one leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA), and one leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA). Both programs start with the same foundation art classes in drawing, color and design, and threedimensional form. Both versions of the major also afford students the opportunity to complete a variety of advanced studio art classes in areas such as ceramics, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. The BA is a liberal arts degree that requires credits in studio art with significant electives outside the cal.msu.edu major. The BFA is a pre-professional degree that requires the majority of its courses in studio art.
