MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF ARTS & LETTERS DEPARTMENT OF ART, ART HISTORY AND DESIGN APPAREL AND TEXTILE DESIGN This major is designed to prepare students in both CLAIM A Better Future apparel and textile design, using a holistic approach to analysis, integration of knowledge, and problem-solving. Students are required to complete a broad array of courses that focus on aesthetics and creativity; twoand three-dimensional design skills; textile materials and design; the historical and cultural aspects of apparel design; and production in a global context. A state-ofthe-art CAD facility equipped with industry software facilitates instruction in design technology. Students often complete an internship as part of the major. Two new versions of the Apparel and Textile Design major are available, one leading to a BA and one leading to a BFA. cal.msu.edu
