Step 19:
Decide on a pose for
the arms and legs and
construct out of 18-20
gauge wire. Wires should
stop at the ankle and
wrist joints. Insert and
remove the wires into the
body while it is still soft.
Let the body dry before
proceeding.
Roll flesh coloured
fondant into tapered
sausages with contouring
for knees and ankles.
No detail is needed at
the foot as shoes will be
added later.
Carefully thread the legs
onto their corresponding
wires and reshape as
necessary. Insert the
wires into the pre-drilled
holes and attach with
royal icing. Use scrap
balls of fondant to hold
legs in position while the
royal icing dries.
Roll flesh coloured fondant
into a sausage with a
bulging end. Flatten the end
and cut fingers and thumb to
form a hand. Carefully thread
each arm on to it’swireup
to the wrist joint and make
sure the wired arms fit neatly
into each arm hole. Do not
permanently attach at this
stage. Allow limbs to dry
before proceeding.

Step 24:
I have used Flexipaste
fondant for the clothing
as it stays flexible without
cracking for a long time,
allowing for adjustments
to be made. Roll paste
to an almost translucent
state (a pasta machine
comes in very handy
here) Cut a square
roughly the same length
as the whole leg and pleat
the two ends.
Remove the arms and
head so they are out of
the way. Wrap the pleated
paste around each leg,
attaching with glue at
the ankle and waistline.
Arrange the folds to
cover the body and hide
any joins. If you have a
gap just fill with an extra
pleated piece of paste.
Add 2 small, hollow cones
of fondant onto the feet to
form shoes.
Use a darker shade of
paste for the waistband and
ankle cuffs. This hides your
edges and makes a nice
detail. Attach a piece of
pleated paste to the chest
to form a bustier. Use an
oval shape of dark paste
and wrap around the body
to form the bolero. Add the
cap sleeves to the arms
before attaching to the pre
made arm holes with royal
icing. Paint on gold details
using Rolkem Super Gold
dust mixed with rose spirit.
Attach the head to the body
with royal icing and allow to
dry before adding hair.
Conceal the foam ball
with a disc of blonde
fondant.
Use an extruder gun with
a multi hole disc to form
thick ropes of hair. I like to
use 2 tones of the same
colour marbled together
to give the hair added
depth. For the fringe
try to keep the strands
as straight as possible.
Trim with scissors once
attached.
