Kay Gajra
interview with
Kay Gajra of Kaykes (UK) is fast becoming synonymous with detailed, sculpted designs
that are a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.

Where do you find your inspiration?
We spoke to Kay about her
inspiration for her designs, her
design process, and how she
sculpts such minute details.
I find my inspiration all around - I can
be watching TV, walking into a shop or
watching a simple thing such as how
my children place their trainers down
and how they fall into place. I love
telling a little story on a board.
How did your cake journey begin?
I started cakes around four years ago
when I had a hard time after we sadly
lost a baby and my grandmother within
two weeks. My grandma always used to
bake with me so I found a happy place
baking for my children at that time.
Which has grown and developed over
the last four years.
Tell us about your design process - do
your clients allow you to have creative
freedom?
I’m very lucky as clients allow me full
run on a design and normally say they
fully trust me to do what I think and feel
is best.
