Add a little more paint
to the brush and paint
thicker lines where the
shadows will be.
Water down a little of the
black paint with more
vodka to create a dark
grey shade. Begin to add
the shadowing to the eye,
chin, lips and neck.
Step 13:
For the main frame,
roll out 700g of black
pastillage to a 3mm
thickness. Place a 10”
board on to the paste and
cut around it with a pizza
wheel cutter. Make a
window in the centre with
the 7” board and a craft
knife.
Step 12:
To make the cream mount
for the frame, roll out 200g
of cream modelling dough
then place a 7” square
board on top of the paste
and cut around it with a
pizza wheel cutter.
Step 14:
Place a 6” square board
in the centre of the 7”
square piece of paste.
Cut around it with a craft
knife and set aside.
Add a sprinkle more of
black dust to the mixture
and paint into the corners
of the outline following
your original picture.
The darker the paint the
more depth you create.
Concentrate on the lip
corners, nose, under the
jaw, the eyebrow and the
neck.

Glue the cream frame to the inside of the
black frame. Once dry attach to the cake
with royal icing and stand on an easel.
