Women in Business
Running a business can be hard. It's not all about flour and fondant and making
gorgeous cakes. There's the paperwork, invoices, budgeting, marketing, legal
requirements, competition... How can women manage all of these along with the
other demands of being a mum, wife, running a household, doing the shopping,
ironing, housework and dropping kids off to soccer practice on time?
We asked our panel of successful Australian and International business women a
series of questions on running a cake decorating business. Here's what they had
to say...

1. What have you found to be the most difficult thing about running
your own business?
Peggy: When you turn your hobby and passion into a business, it’s easy to lose that important work/life
balance. I can get very consumed with the business and it’s difficult to find the head space needed to
keep creating and setting trends.
Patricia: Work-life balance is definitely the most difficult thing that I learn to manage, even until today.
The second most difficult thing would probably be building up confidence in myself, in my product, and
in the business.
Faye: Overcommitting myself and working too long hours.
Mignon: The never-ending list of things to do!
