WATERCOLOUR
GEO COOKIES
By Robyn Salisbury of Mad Hen Cakes
There are many ways a watercolour effect can be achieved in the cake and biscuit world, but this is my
favourite. This blending technique allows two different colours to create a new colour without seeing hard
lines. The paint will feather and diffuse like magic and no effect will be the same. Personally I find pure
joy in watching the colours blend. Have fun and expriment. This tutorial is creating gem biscuits but the
possibilities are numerous; think brooding galaxies, delicate flower petals, beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
Have fun and experiment!
You will need:
• Gem shaped biscuits. If you do not have
cutters you can make a template and
hand-cut the dough. I cut the corners off
my square shaped dough to create a gem
shape.
• Fondant or royal icing to cover the
biscuits. Regardless of which icing you
choose to use, the icing does not need to
be dry before spraying.
• Pastel Blue, Pink Gelato and Pastel Yellow
Sweet Sticks Edible Art Paint
• Rose spirit
• 3 small
spray
bottles.
They can
be found
in variety
stores.
• Dropper
• Royal icing and piping bag
