Pakistan 1,031 people served 66% of whom were female CHALLENGES CAI’s work in Pakistan was put on hold for several months in 2019 when the Pakistani government made changes to the regulations governing nonprofit organizations’ operations. Fortunately, later in the year, CAI was able to partner with two incountry organizations. This allowed us to resume support to remote mountain communities in Gilgit-Baltistan, where CAI got its start in 1996. SUCCESSES The quality of education that a student receives depends on the quality of the teacher providing the instruction. In 2019, 216 teachers from remote mountain communities went through a professional development course funded by CAI. At the training the educators learned important lessons about students’ learning styles, child development, techniques for engaging parents in their child’s education, and much more. Roughly 170 schools were represented at the event.
