MAY FEST on Main Street
Spring is in the air and the annual MAY FEST
on Main Street is just around the corner.
MAY FEST on Main Street officially opens
May 7 at 8 a.m. with the 2016 Gears and
Gables ride to benefit Rutherford Housing
Partnership, a local non-profit organization
that helps make much needed repairs to the
homes of low-income families. Additional
information and applications can be found at
rutherfordhousingpartnership.com/events.
This year MAY FEST goes above and beyond
to add some truly unique vendors and new
activities! Up for some excitement? Get your
heart racing with RaceDay Motorsports inside
the racing simulation bus. Climb a rock wall
or run the inflatable obstacle course at the
Kid’s Playland provided by R.S. Central Band.
There will be mechanical rides for the young
and young at heart in the IPDC parking lot.
KidSenses will be entertaining us once again
with their hands on activities and let’s not
forget the very talented, always popular face
painting booth.

Something
for everyone
to enjoy!
What would a festival be without delectable
treats? Delicious barbeque, fried turkey legs,
fried pies, roasted corn on the cob and more!
Enjoy some live entertainment while you indulge
your taste buds beginning at 11:00 with Girl
Interrupted followed by ClevCo who takes the
stage at 2 p.m. Both of these bands have a great
local following and are a crowd favorite!
This year will also feature plenty of vendors with
handcrafted arts, crafts and one-of-a-kind finds.
Many of our local merchants will add to your
shopping treasures with special sales throughout
the day, including The Rutherford County Art
Guild who will be having their Oops Pottery Sale
where you can find some great deals on local
handmade art.
Our local Boy Scouts will host their annual Scout
Show & District Pinewood Derby Race featuring
interactive booths including a Tee Pee exhibit
and Scouts in Indian regalia. Our local dance and
gymnastics teams always impress us with their
performances on Court Street and this year looks
to be one for the books!
As always our local radio station, WCAB 59 AM,
will do a live remote broadcast from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. keeping us up to date with the day’s
activities. So head into town, soak up some fun
and see what being a minted original is all about!
