Since 1988 , Rainforest Trust and our local partners have worked together to protect more than 52.2 million acres of rainforest and other tropical habitats around the globe . These acres protect some of the world ’ s most vulnerable species , safeguard traditional lands and territories for Indigenous Peoples , and slow climate change by preserving forests , mangroves , and other carbon-rich ecosystems .
