The Adult Learning Center has
served adults in the mid-Missouri
area for more than 36 years. The
ALC has class sites at Family
Impact Center, Missouri Job
Center, Columbia Area Career
Center, Fayette Public Schools
and Advanced Technology Center
located in Mexico, Mo.
The purpose of the ALC is to
assist adults in one or more of the
following areas:
•
Become literate and obtain the
knowledge and skills necessary for
employment and self-sufficiency
•
Obtain educational skills necessary
to become full partners in the
educational process for their
children
•
Complete secondary school
education
•
Become proficient in English
language skills
The ALC provides services and
instruction in the following types
of programs:
•
Adult Basic Education (ABE):
Instruction in skills below a high
school level
•
Adult Secondary Education (ASE):
Instruction in skills at a high school
level
•
English Literacy Program (ELL):
Instruction designed to help
individuals of limited English
proficiency achieve competence in
the English language.
