The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada ( GFOA ) awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Cabarrus County for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30 , 2020 .
The County also received the GFOA ’ s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its annual budget document for the fiscal year ended June 30 , 2020 .

Cabarrus County ’ s financial statements present fairly , in all material respects , the respective financial position of the governmental activities , the business-type activities , the discretely presented component unit , each major fund , and the aggregate remaining fund information of Cabarrus County , North Carolina , as of June 30 , 2021 , and the respective changes in financial position and , where applicable , cash flows thereof , and the respective budgetary comparison for the General Fund for the year then ended in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America .
