Stuben ’ s impulse to pull the club forward with cabaret tables and balcony stairs – encircling and involving the TCR audience – has been a thrilling adventure for our entire staff and team .
The dialogue with our costume team has been a constant exchange of frillies , sheer fabrics , rich colors , and glimmer . Joni Dee Sackett and Jess Helberg have created unique concepts for each musical number . With foundational grounding in the era , our Emcee is a bit of a fashion icon time traveler , pulling stylistic inspo from the decadent glam rock icons that would emerge 50 years later … and , perhaps even a dash of Harry Styles ’ eccentric red carpet mastery . From initial renderings to fabric selections , fittings , and final refinements , the Kit Kat Club costumes have been designed to transport us to a fantasy world where our troubles disappear in a flurry of feathers and fishnets .
This project has been an invigorating artistic milestone , just in time for my five-year anniversary in a role I deem an inestimable privilege to hold . I have never been prouder of the creative and production teams , outside artists and artisans , TCR ’ s remarkable staff , or our supremely talented and driven local casts and crews .
