Caa Rewards masterCard and Caa Dollars
By PAUL GALLANT
MOST MEMBERS kNOW that CAA saves
you money. But did you also know
we can help you do more for less?
By collecting CAA Dollars, you can
get more thrills, see new things and
savour all of life’s little pleasures.
It’s something the Lavoie family of
Winnipeg experienced first-hand on a
trip to Disney World.
Last year, the family of five—Chantal,
Pierre and kids Jéric, Nicolas and
Alexie—decided to plan a summer
Disney trip. The early birds had flights
and theme-park tickets booked by
February. “Disney park passes for seven
days are quite expensive for a group
[approx. $2,600]; I was surprised. But
our CAA Dollars actually covered most
of it,” says Chantal Lavoie.
To rack up those dollars faster,
Lavoie says the CAA Rewards
MasterCard has been a lifesaver. Using
the card on everything from groceries
to gas, it took her about a year of
earning. But by August, she’d collected
enough to add a side trip to Sea World
(about $470). “Every CAA Dollar is
worth an actual dollar—plus you don’t
lose any value with taxes and fees,” says
Lavoie, who became a CAA member on
the advice of her parents.
And those dollars really did help the
family get more thrills: Wary of roller
coasters, 15-year-old Nicolas decided it
was time to conquer his fear on one of
the park’s toughest, Expedition Everest.
“In line, we heard people screaming
as the ride was coming down,” Lavoie
says. “Nicolas came off the coaster a
little wobbly, but because he did it, he
was ready to tackle all the other rides
at the park.”
The trip was an Everest-size success
all around; the kids are currently
planning their next Disney adventure.
But for now, Lavoie has earmarked
this year’s CAA Dollars for a winter ski
holiday. “We’re pretty disciplined. We
don’t spend the points unless we have a
trip in mind.”
