Grassroots Lobbying
WHAT IF I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE CONTACTING
LAWMAKERS?
If you are not comfortable scheduling a face-to-face visit or
making a phone call, or perhaps you do not have social media,
there are other ways to make sure your voice counts. Here are
some ways you can contribute to organizations that will carry your
voice to the Capitol:
Work with Public Policy Associations or Advocacy
Organizations who can lobby on your behalf.
Donate money to those associations that give campaign
contribution to elected officials who adhere to your priorities.
Media: Publish articles, press releases to print, radio and TV
stations.
Run social media campaigns on Facebook, Twitter, and
Instagram and organize your supporters to make comments
on legislators social media accounts.
If you still get resistance to your cause then host a public
rally or protest for your issue in front of a legislator’s district
office and notify the press.
Also consider sending mailers into the neighborhoods of a
legislator’s constituents.
