HEALTH IS LIFE
It was a sunny afternoon. Children were coming home from school. Burak was going home with
his friends. He was talking to his friends walking home.
Burak felt pain under his foot. When he stopped to look at his foot, he saw a moldy nail under
his foot. His friends helped Burak and they took him home.
His mother pulled out the nail on Burak's foot. But his parents didn't feel the need to take his to
the hospital. Burak also had no pain. Burak went into his bed that night and he fell asleep.
When he woke up in the morning, Burak's foot was both swollen and bruised. When his mother
and father were looking at his foot, they became very worried. His parents took him to the hospital
urgently.
The doctor examined Burak and said his foot was infected. He warned his parents about this
dangerous situation. His parents noticed that they made a big mistake. They would now take Burak to
the hospital in such cases. His family apologized to Burak and promised him. Because they learned
every child has the right to health and children should not be deprived of this right.

the child to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health and to facilities for the treatment
of illness and rehabilitation of health. States Parties shall strive to ensure that no child is deprived of
his or her right of access to such health care services.)
