ARYA’S STORY
Most children in the world have a great life, with good resources. But other children live a difficult
life, like in India for example.
Children have to work to help their family.
A girl tells us her story:
« Hi my name is Arya. I’ve got brown hair and blue eyes like my mother Neela. My dada, George, is
short, he has grey hair and brown eyes. When I was eight, we lived in a hut in India? We built it with
recovered materials. It was a in a little village in the fields. There wasn’t electricity and we only ate
rice.
I had to work to earn money and to help my parents. My mother died when I was ten because of the
hard living conditions.
So I lived with my dad and my little sister, she was the spitting image of my mother.
One year after my mother’s death, we were fetching water when my sister fell, I heard her scream so I
called my father.
We decided to emigrate , using my mother’s savings. We decided to move to France. so that my sister
and I could go to school and have an education?
Everyday, I think about all the children who still work and I hope that one day people will change and
children will have better living conditions. »
We agree with her point of view, we think child labour is unacceptable and children should be allowed
to choose what they want to do in the future.
