May 2018 activities. We know that we are backslidden. But, we try to show to others that everything is normal. We want to show that 'we are very active', 'we are very busy' and all such things. People are tricked to think that we are “running” for God and “ministering” for Him. But let us examine ourselves. Our personal relationship with the Lord is more important than the ministry that we are doing. In order to be useful for God continuously, we need to have a close fellowship with Him. asked forgiveness from Uriah and Bathsheba. But rather he pushed a man of integrity and loyalty to death. Why would David indulge in such horrific acts? Because he wanted to hide his sins. He tried to patch-up. But Uriah was a man of integrity. Even under the influence of alcohol, he did not go home. David hid his sin for more than a year until prophet Nathan pointed his sin to him. Confession opens the way to have a transparent relationship with the Lord. Pro 28:13 “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” There is another Biblical character about whom I used to meditate often, Samson. Why did Samson lose his power? He was transparent with Delilah but not with the Lord. We are sometimes more transparent with our friends. But when it comes to God, we maintain a distant attitude. Because Samson was not transparent with God, he lost God's anointing in his life. If he had confessed his sins and repented, God would have been merciful to him. He would not have taken the power from him. Let us spend everyday in the presence of God in searching our hearts. Note how Adam replies, And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself” (Gen 3:10). Adam openly confessed that he was afraid. But when God subsequently probed him as why he ate that fruit, he began to play the blame-game. He blamed God. When we commit a mistake, we try to shift the blame to others. Let us not blame others. Let us not hide ourselves from God. Let God probe our innermost being. When David sinned against the Lord with Bathsheba, he tried to “cover” his sins through various techniques. He could have openly In order to maintain a transparent relationship with the Lord, we need to have a 'good conscience.' Paul maintained this clear conscience while serving the Lord ( 2 Tim 1:3). Again in 1 Timothy 1:18,19, Paul says, “This charge I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the pr ophecies previously made about you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, holding faith and a good conscience.” If we try to harden our hearts, our conscience might be seared. Note what Paul says in 1 Timothy 4th chapter 2nd verse, “...through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared.” When our consciences are seared, we become insensitive to sin. While fleeing from King Saul, David maintained a clear conscience. He was conscience- stricken, even when he cut the corner of Saul's robe.
