“ a dog returns to his own vomit and a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire”( 2 Pet 2:22).
As long as we live in this world, there will be war between the spirit and the flesh. When our hearts are filled with God ' s word, He will give us the power to overcome the temptations of the flesh. The Psalmist says,“ Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You”( Ps 119:11).
Peter loved Jesus so much that Jesus empowered him to build the Church.
Let the love of Christ constrain us that we can achieve extraordinary things for God!
2. Unquestioning Obedience
Mat 14:29-“ He said,“ Come”. And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on water to go to Jesus.”
As soon as Jesus said“ Come”, Peter rushed out and walked on water. He never thought whether it was possible for him to walk on water. Without questioning further, he immediately obeyed.
Peter knew how dangerous it was to jump into the sea. But, at the same time, he also knew how powerful is the Lord, who had called him.
We have accepted Jesus as our God, King, Leader and Guru. We must obey each and every word of Him. Jesus obeyed the Father to the point of death on the Cross. He expects the same obedience from us, His disciples.
Every act of ours must be in accordance with the will of God. Choosing life partner is an important decision. God ' s Word says“ do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers”( 2 Cor 6:14). We should never choose an unbeliever, how good the proposal may seem. Let not the wedlock, lock us out
of God ' s will in our life. When we choose our life partner according to His will, we can rest assured that even our sufferings will bring glory to God.
Similarly, it is unwise to choose our higher education or vocation based on how lucrative it is. Let us tell our desire to Jesus, wait at His Feet and submit to His perfect will. He will lead us in the right path. Let fulfilling God ' s will be our priority.
Many aspire to work in foreign countries as soon as they finish their studies. Though it is not wrong, we must never forget India, our motherland. We must have the burden to serve our country and proclaim the Gospel to the lost sheep in India.
God wants us to submit to our parents now, and to our spouse, after marriage. Let us honour our parents and do not despise them in their old age. Let us give a helping hand to our parents in household chores. No cookery book will be equivalent to what we learn from our mom.
Without obeying His Word, doing ministry will be like building a house on sand.
“ Whatever He says to you, do it” and we can accomplish great things for God!
3. Unshakable Faith
Peter had unshakable faith in his Master. He was fully confident that nature was completely under Jesus ' control. He had already had a foretaste of this when they had a big catch of fish. Therefore, he walked boldly on the sea towards Jesus. But suddenly, when he saw the boisterous wind, he was afraid and began to sink. Even at that moment he had faith in Jesus. He believed that He would save him. That ' s why he cried,“ Lord, save me!”
What is our anchor of hope? Do we trust our beauty? Are we proud of it? A disease or an accident
