Feed Odisha Update
The Relief Work of BYM in Odisha
The year began with a joyful New Year service on the
1st January, 2018. About 350 people, comprising of our
believers, beneficiaries, Sunday school children and staff
celebrated our Lord's goodness in their lives, while looking
forward to another year of faithfully walking with Him.
Here's a roundup of the Feed Odisha ministries:
Happy Home Hostel : 19 boys stay here and go to
school. Most of them have only one parent. Please remember
to pray for Sumantho and Deepak, who are in class X. Both
are from non-Christian background. Sumantho's mother was
affected mentally after her husband's death and lives with her
mother. He has been with us from class I. Deepak has been
with us for 7 years. His father is sick and unable to work,
mother is a casual labourer. Pray for both, as they appear for
their Board Examination and for their higher studies.
Poor Feeding : Every month, 39 families in the areas
around Bargarh, Diptipur and Sohela are given rice, dhal and
oil. These people are all below poverty line. Some are
widows and others are unable to work. Pray that these people
would be nourished physically and spiritually, as we share
God's love. Some attend our services.
Educational support : We were able to support the
following students from poor families. We paid their college
fees and got them their books. Niharika, Tiki, Sasmita,
Arpita, Babita, Lili, Seema, Sahi, Bimal, Reebika, Nibedita,
Narottam and Deepali. They have joined college or Junior
college in the districts we work in. Many more seek help.
Pray that the ones who are supported will study well.
Tuition classes: Tuition classes are being held in
Ailapali, Mahupali, Ichhapali, Bindpali, Dhusaibahal,
Jungapali, Jukipali, Barikel and Tenkarpadar. Classes had
to be suspended in 2 villages due to local opposition.
Children memorise verses before starting class and are able
to learn one Psalm every month. Pray that we will get good
local teachers.
Tailoring classes :Tailoring classes are going on in
Khariar Road and Jamla. In Jamla, two batches have
completed the course. However, many of them are unable to
buy sewing machines. It will be good if we can support them.
House reconstruction : We helped in the
reconstruction of two houses in Ichhapali and Mohulpali.
Both houses had collapsed and we provided the materials and
