www.bymonline.org | SEPTEMBER 2018 was in the form of God and was equal with God but He lowered Himself and became man. Hence, Jesus has the same nature as God the Father, but differs in position. Consider the following verses, which equate Jesus as one equal with God the Father. 5. If Jesus was God, why did He pray? We should not forget that Jesus was 100% God and at the same time 100% human. In His human nature, he needed God and hence, He needed prayer. Jesus' Human Attributes Heb 1:3 - “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high” Jn 10:30 - “ I and the Father are one.” Jn 14:9 - “ Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 4. Jesus was not good Mt 19:16,17 - “And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.”(KJV) This verse is also used against Jesus' claims of Divinity. 'Look, He Himself said that He was not good' is the argument of wrong teachers. But what they fail to realize is that Jesus here actually claims His Divinity. He, in turn asks the young man, 'Why are you calling me 'good'? Only God is good. Are you calling me 'God' or just good 'Master'? This is the play of words Jesus used to clarify the young man's perception of Jesus Himself. In the Bible we read that Jesus was good and sinless. Heb 7:26 - “For such a high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens” Jn 10:11 - “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” Jn 8:46 - “Which one of you convicts me of sin?” 1) Jesus was hungry (Lk 4:2), 2) He was weary (Jn 4:6), 3) He fell asleep (Lk 8:23), 4) He increased in wisdom (Lk 2:52), 5) He learnt obedience (Heb 5:8), 6) He struggled (Lk 22:42-44), 7) He prayed with cries (Heb 5:7), 8) He did not know certain things (Mk 13:32), 9) He was tempted (Mk 1:13), 10) He had questions (Mk 15:34). 11) He wept (Jn 11:35). 12) He was thirsty (Jn 19:28). Jesus' Divine Attributes 1) Jesus' birth was miraculous (Mt 1:18), 2) He performed miracles (Jn 2:11), 3) He healed (Mt 8:13), 4) He raised the dead (Jn 11:43), 5) He forgave sins (Mk 2:10,11), 6) He commanded the winds (Lk 8:25), 7) He taught with authority (Mt 7:28,29), 8) He claimed absolute authority (Mt 28:18), 9) He claimed the authority to judge (Jn 5:22,27), 10) He claimed His words to be immortal (Mt 24:35), 11) He demanded complete allegiance (Mt 10:37,38), 12) God, the Father called Jesus as God (Heb 1:8). To conclude, the Divinity of Jesus Christ may be attacked now and then, but the 'Truth' remains the same. Films and novels which claim that Jesus was married is nothing but a work of fiction. There is no scientific data to support all these fantasies. PAGE 11
