Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” removes kings and sets up kings.” Let us not worry about the number of people who will support us. We do not need anybody's support. Our only hope is in God. Let us stay humble and surely God will exalt us. And when God exalts us, let us continue to be humble. Our God is the ruler of the earth. He is the Lord of all. Every creation obeys Him. Nothing happens by chance for God's children. So do not worry when everything seems dark and gloomy. He is still on the throne. Sometimes God rides in thick dark clouds. Not all darkness is from the devil. See what the Bible says in Psalm 18:11 - “He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him, thick clouds dark with water.” Many a times when calamity strikes us, and when things happen contrary to our expectations, we fret and fume forgetting the fact that God is still on the throne. 3. The Remnant enjoyed the Favour of the Lord Although the remnants were in great distress and were few in number, they enjoyed the favour of the Lord. This favour came from unexpected quarters. It is during perilous times, God's people get promoted to places of prominence and influence. The Babylonian King, Nebuchadnezzar exalted Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to positions of royalty when Israel was in exile (Daniel 2:49). Daniel enjoyed the patronage of King Darius so much so that he planned to appoint him as one of the rulers of the then powerful Persian empire (Dan 6:1-3). Ezra found favour in the eyes of King Artaxerxes that he gave orders to his officials to provide all that was required for the building of the temple. Not only that, the King gave Ezra the authority to appoint magistrates in the land (Ezra 7:6-26). Nehemiah was a trusted confidant of King Artaxerxes and he was placed by Providence in the capital of Susa when he first planned to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem (Neh 1:1, 1:11). Esther was elevated as Queen to King Ahasuerus in the Kingdom of Persia exactly when a plan was charted to exterminate the entire Jewish race (Est 2:16,17). All the afore mentioned people were elevated to positions of influence and power so that the remnants may enjoy the favour of the Lord. They were preserved during perilous times. Sometimes, we try to find God in places where we expect Him to be. But God is not limited to our expectations and knowledge. He works everywhere and wherever it pleases Him. Dan 2:21 - “He changes times and seasons; he People whom we trust may fail us. But our help will come from unexpected quarters. Just trust in His goodness. Wait for His salvation. Be still! Yes, beloved, be still and know that He is the Lord (Ps 46:10). 4. The Remnant faced Fierce Opposition When the remnant start to fulfil the plan of God in their lives, there would be fierce opposition. Enemies may attack from all possible sides. We live in the last days and God is raising a new generation for His glory. Their clothes are not defiled by the filth of the land. God is trusting this group of remnant to write the last pages of Church history. They will be the instruments of revival in the days to come. Dear reader, are you the one chosen by God? Are you an instrument of revival? Are you a remnant? Are you wondering why you are facing such insurmountable difficulties? Does it seem, for every one step that you take forward, you seem to move back seven steps? Problems from within, criticisms, health issues, difficulties with children, misunderstandings, financial stress and the list is endless. Does problem after problem beset you? Do you ask, 'why?' Let me explain. As God's trusted child, you are very special. Such things do not happen for all. The devil knows whom he should target. He knows that if he can discourage you and discredit you, God's Name can be besmirched. So be not discouraged. The more problems you face, more the glory ahead of you. You are in the perfect plan of God. Go ahead. Do not let discouragements frustrate you nor February 2020 | www.bymonline.org | Page 06
