Dear remnants, Greetings to you in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the prayer answering God! I am pleased to note that I will be meeting you each month through this letter. The times that we live in are not normal. There is a threat of war in many countries. We are flooded with more and more bad news every fleeting day. It is disheartening to see that violence, abuse, suicide, theft, rape, animosity are increasing day by day. Believers are threatened and exploited. Churches are demolished. Missionaries are undergoing various kinds of health issues. Certainly, we are living in the last days. Inspite of this awful scenario, as God's children we are called to pray. The Apostle Paul in his first epistle to Timothy writes, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Tim 2: 1-4). We need to regularly pray that our kings and those who are in high positions will be guided by the Lord and take decisions as per the will of God. Each decision is crucial. For one wrong decision will adversely affect the Nation. The Bible says, “When the righteous are in authority and become great, the people rejoice; But when the wicked man rules, the people groan and sigh” (Prov 29:2). So, let us pray that God will bless us with righteous leaders so that we can live a peaceful and quiet life. The Apostle Paul further admonishes us to pray that all men will be saved and that they will come to the knowledge of the truth. The prophet Samuel, considered it a sin if he ceases to pray for his people (I Sam 12:23). In Romans 10, the Apostle Paul states that it is his heart's desire and prayer that Israel be saved. What a love for his countrymen! Jeremiah, the weeping prophet laments that the whole land is laid desolate because no one takes it to heart (Jer 12:11). Shall we give heed? Shall we commit ourselves to seek the Lord? Let us organise half night and all night prayers for our Nation. Let us not be self- centred and seek the Lord only for our own betterment in prayer meetings. Rather let us humble ourselves before Him so that He may bless our land (2 Chr 7:14). God is seeking for one man, atleast one, to stand in the gap before Him on behalf of the land that He should not destroy it (Eze 22:30). Will we be that person? Yours in His Service, A.
