Do You Hear Them?

The Holy Bible is filled with anecdotes of
people with diverse natures. The Lord has used each
one of them for a specific purpose. They all serve as a
role model (either good or bad) for us in our daily
walk with God. Let us meditate on three characters
who did have a need to be fulfilled.
1.Blind Bartimaeus
As Jesus was walking on the streets of Jericho,
Bartimaeus, being blind, cried, “Jesus, Son of David,
have mercy on me!” (Mk 10:47). He cried even
louder as the sound did not even reach the ears of the
crowd that was following Him. Though his cries
annoyed them, they were not stirred up to take him to
Jesus. But, he was desperate to meet Jesus. He firmly
believed that if he met Jesus, he would be able to
receive sight again and all his worries would vanish.
Hence, he kept on shouting. But no one cared to take
him to Jesus…
2.The invalid man at the pool of Bethesda
He had been invalid for 38 years! He would
have been even sick of waiting for the angel to stir the
waters. For, he had none to help him get into the
waters when the angel stirred it (Jn 5:6,7). He too had
a desire. Yet, his hope was not fulfilled. The
colonnades would have been a shelter not only for the
sick but also for their relatives. Many would have
been healed and left the place. As people passed by,
they would have noticed him. They would have even
