Fellowship A Bond of Love
In the game of soccer, players used to
play in the 4-4-2-1 formation. Each player would be
assigned a position so that he fulfills a specific role.
Even if one player is weak or has a grudge against
another player the team would ultimately lose the
game. In order to win, each player with inherent
strength is carefully selected and trained. Each
player is expected to know the strengths and
weaknesses of every other player so that he can
compliment if need be. No player can shift the blame
to another. A team with such an attitude would
definitely win the game.
How true of this when it comes to
spiritual things! God chose twelve disciples so that
they would preach the Gospel and can stand against
the Evil one. He taught and trained them like an army
to do His job. In them was, God the Holy Spirit. They
had oneness in spirit. They had fellowship with one
another. Hence, God did mighty works through them.
In the Church today, when we have true
fellowship with one another and when we understand
each other, God would do mighty things through us.
We should know the strengths and weaknesses of our
brothers and sisters and try to compliment them.
We read in Philippians 1:14 that the
brothers became more confident in proclaiming the
Gospel of Jesus Christ after they heard about Apostle
Paul's witness about Christ. This world may hate us
believers, as the Second Coming draws nearer. But
we need to strengthen our fellowship and not worry
about the opposition.
But sadly, inside the Church everyone
wants prominence for himself. We want our wish to
be done. It is for this reason, love among the believers
has grown cold. Rather infightings and
disrespectfulness are on the rise. It is for this reason,
we are not able to witness the mighty move of God.
Let us remember First Corinthians 1:10,
“I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no
divisions among you, but that you be united in the
same mind and the same judgment.”
Let us all stand as one unified force,
upholding each other, encouraging each other and
learning from each other. Let us all come together to
build the Kingdom of God. This is the need of the
hour.
Hence let us do the following:
Let us love one another and honour one another.
Romans 10:12 “Love one another with brotherly
affection. Out do one another in showing honor”
Let us guard the relationships by not speaking
against one another.
1 Peter 3:10 - “Whoever desires to love life and see
good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his
lips from speaking deceit”
Let us maintain the unity of mind.
1 Peter 3:8 “Finally, all of you, have unity of mind,
sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a
humble mind”
Let us build each other up.
1 Thess 5:14 “And we urge you, brothers, admonish
the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak,
be patient with them all.”
Let us think noble things about others.
Phil 4: 8 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is
pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if
there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of
praise, think about these things”
Beloved, let us think about these things in our
personal settings. Do we maintain the bond of love?
Do we build each other up? Am we gossiping? Let us
ask the Lord to show us what we must do to build the
bond of love in our fellowships. Let us strive to build
our fellowships. Let us come together and pray with
oneness.
Surely God will do greater things.
