Whither Blessings?
(A study from the book of Haggai)

What do Christians primarily seek these days? Blessings! This generation has somehow, been unable to
understand the basis for blessings to flow. For those who are stumbling along the way, the message of the book
of Haggai will truly be an eye-opener.
In order to get some clarity on the essence of this message, we need to know the historical background of
this book. Our Almighty God gifted the land of Canaan to the nation of Israel. Saul was the first king. He was
succeeded by David and then, by his son Solomon, who reigned for forty years each. After their time, the
nation forgot their relationship with God and lost their fear of God. This resulted in the division of the nation
into the Northern kingdom and the Southern kingdom. The Assyrians conquered, deported and thus scattered
the people of the godless Northern Kingdom. Later the Babylonians attacked the Southern kingdom and took
the people as captives. During this invasion, the temple in Jerusalem, built by Solomon with precious gold,
