As soon as they began implementing, a short message from heaven reached their mailbox. This was God ' s word and it said,“ I am with you”( 1:13). When the people made the decision to return and reform, they experienced fellowship with God. Our Lord blesses us, wipes away our tears, heals our wounds, liberates us, gives us life all of this is true. But there is also the other side to Him. We see this in verses 9-11.“ What you brought home, I blew it away”( v9). Moreover, He says,“ I called for a drought on the...... labour of your hands”( v11).
As we come to our senses, we understand that we have left Him aside and are looking for blessings elsewhere. Do we now realize the reason behind the lack of blessedness and unexplained problems? May we understand that there is no comfort apart from His companionship. Whenever there are hurdles in life, let us examine the state of our fellowship with Him. When that is restored, the message of comfort flows into our hearts the message that says,“ I am with you!”
Now,“ One stone was laid on another in the Lord ' s temple”( 2:15). God promised the people that their lives would now change and He invites them to see the difference. He gives yet another promise too,“ From this day on I will bless you”( 2:19). Do you feel that your life is being reduced to rubble? Begin to build your relationship with Him right now. You will enjoy blessedness as you live in fellowship with Him.
