The Behavioral Sciences’ green roof design consists
of intensive and extensive systems. The
design uses the geometry of the building to create
a place where students can come and reflect. The
study nooks are private spaces either for groups or
individuals that are created by the arching
trellis walls. The space also has a waterwall
intended to filter noise. As a Landscape Designer, the definition of materiality becomes much more clear.
This design incorporated the use of pavers, stone veneer, and a variety of
plantings to develop a seasonally attractive landscape for a resident in Castle
Rock. As more or less a glorfied salesman, it is up to the designer to coach and
guide homeowners through a long process, but overall the homeowner will always
dictate what they want.
