Black Youth Achievements: The Awards 2012 – Welcome! Thank you for joining us at the 4th annual BYA Awards where we celebrate the personal accomplishments of young people and promote positive images and role models. Tonight at The Tabernacle, you will be part of a movement that is creating a platform of youth leadership. Since 2009, the BYA Awards have showcased some of the UK’s most inspiring and progressive individuals, challenging the negative stereotype of ‘disadvantage and under-achievement’. If you have attended BYA Awards before, we’re sure that you experienced a feeling of pride that our young people are contributing in such powerful ways to the community. BYA are in a privileged position. We get to work alongside some amazingly talented young people who fill us with confidence that a significant change is taking place. Their voice within politics is growing stronger, entrepreneurship is expanding rapidly and the desire for success and achievement is a key priority for them. BYA will continue to support those who are striving for more. Please take the opportunity to get to know one another this evening. There will be a wealth of knowledge, experience and creativity in the building that can be used to form partnerships and build empires.
