Burnsville seeks state funds for treatment plant
Lawmakers asked for $ 7.75M in bonding

On Oct . 12 a bus load of state lawmakers toured the Burnsville Water Treatment Plant , which city officials say is nearly 50 years old and in “ dire need ” of rehabilitation .
The city is seeking $ 7.75 million in state bonding — half of the $ 15.5 million in upgrades officials say are needed . The city proposes to cover the other half .
Burnsville was the last stop on a three-day tour of the House Capital Investment Committee , which visited cities across southwest central Minnesota to begin sizing up potential projects for a 2024 bonding bill .
“ We have solicited projects from across the state , $ 7.4 billion , and this is in line with the other projects that we are seeing — a lot of water treatment facilities ” along with many economic development projects such as community centers , said Rep . Fue Lee , DFL-St . Paul , the committee chair .

Sales rose during the pandemic and haven ’ t retreated , according to a company official . Fiftythree percent of Burnsville households have a Costco card . The place is a beehive , especially on weekends , and parking is strained .
A proposal by Costco Wholesale Corp . to ease the strain met defeat Tuesday . Costco wants to build an employee parking lot on a vacant property near the warehouse store on Burnhaven Drive between County Road 42 and McAndrews Road .
City Council members voted 4-0 to deny a concept-stage plan to build a lot with up to 69 stalls on the former site of Pumpkin Patch day care on Burnhaven Drive . Costco bought the property from

Eagan approves ARPA-funded projects

The Eagan City Council recently approved directing $ 6.9 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds for new infrastructure projects .
Eagan City Finance Director Josh Feldman offered a ARPA summary to the council during an Oct . 10 work session . The council adopted its ARPA plan in 2022 , and city staff has received approval from the council to move forward on many infrastructure projects . The council approved directing $ 4.4 million in the ARPA Finance plan on Dec . 20 , 2022 .
