THE IRIS PRIZE
Cardiff’s very own LGBT film festival kicks off this month with a varierty of
screenings, forums and events. Charlotte Carter has an eye up of the festival.
ALREADY into its eighth year, the Iris Prize film
Festival is looking to be bigger than ever. As Cardiff
becomes a central area for any LGBT person,
Iris flows well into this main hub for celebrating
and discussing the ideas surrounding the LGBT
Community.
The festival is dedicated to the world of films that
can be based on anything, as long as it has a main
outlook on an LGBT theme. The crop of films for
2014 are, as usual, looking to set the bar high. This
year also sees the introduction of the the Feature
Film Award, being sponsored by Martin Briggs.
Starting the Festival off will be Jayson Bend: Queen
And Country – a film that asks what would James
Bond be like Y
