THE
A look at the creative
arts events in Wales
ISSUE
EMMA GELIOT
The saying goes that art is long and life is
short. Though art will always be around
us the opportunity to see some of it can be
fleeting, and with all the art festivals and
exhibitions taking place this month now is
the time to out and make the most of some
arty culture.
In this Art special we will be having a
look at the big and beautiful Cardiff
Contemporary, as well as seeing what’s
new from Wales’ other arts festivals such
as Artes Mundi, Family Arts Festival and
Experimentica. We also feature some of
our favourite art venues and see what they
are up to.

What’s your all time favourite piece of art?
That’s like being asked which of your children you
like best! If I had to pick one with a gun to my head
I’d say Anthony Shapland’s A Setting, which always
makes me cry and was just shown again at the
National Museum Wales. On the surface it’s just a
film of his father, sitting in a caravan and reading
the paper as the sun goes down, beautifully framed
and shot, but there is just so much love in it that it
never fails to move me.
