fashion THE ART OF DENIM McArthurGlen in Bridgend have chosen the ‘Art Of Denim’ to be its first global campaign. The designer outlet company, which boasts 21 units in eight European countries, sold 600 pieces of denim every hour last year. With this in mind it’s easy to see why they’re particularly keen to promote it, and have named the material “the ultimate fashion icon.” The campaign runs from Sat 5 to Sun 20 Oct, and will include special promotions and denim discounts. Bridgend Designer Outlet will naturally be included in this event, which rightly promotes our favourite multi-season, wardrobe filling fashion staple. IT’S ALL WHITE Luxury home decor and fashion company The White Company opened its first store in Cardiff, adding another upmarket shopping destination the St. David’s Centre. The White Company joins companies such as A/X Armani Exchange and Vivienne Westwood as a growing number of high end stores now available across the UK. The company, which celebrates 20 years of business this year, has selected the bustling city centre as the location of its newest store, placing it between Coast and Karen Millen (a smart move as I’m sure high-budget fashion lovers will agree). The company’s CEO Will Kernan describes his brand as being “synonymous with timeless, understated and elegant collections,” and maintains that brand integrity and quality is still its trademark today. Lou Lou’s vintage fair, voted the best of its kind in the UK, returns to Cardiff once again on Sun 13 Oct to the City Hall in Cardiff for another round of bargain-hunting. With stashes of vintage clothes, accessories and jewellery stacked up to the ceiling in this clothing emporium you’re bound to find something you like. A previous visitor myself, I was pleased recently to see a combination of vintage evening wear which has remained untouched on show, alongside more modern stalls, which feature more reworked items – classics with a modern, 21st century twist. Something for every budget! HERE TO HEEL British high street matriarch Marks & Spencer have given high-heel lovers something to smile about this month by launching their first heels with the latest Insolia technology. Insolia promises to ensure that the foot is correctly positioned within the shoe, allowing the ball of your foot to rotate naturally and reduce the level of pain that many endure when they choose style over comfort. Those who like their feet more firmly on the ground will be ecstatic to hear that this new tech isn’t just exclusive to high heels, flats with a height of 40mm can be purchased for £29.50. www.marksandspencer.com BUZZ 52 Lou Lou’s Vintage Fair, Cardiff.
